“I didn’t know you were bringing a friend,” he said.
She pushed the girl into the room. “Honestly, she’s the one with the gift.”
Eyes forward, mouth shut, the young one followed them through the house.
She spoke again as they left, “I’m sorry. I guess we didn’t see anything.”
He smiled and gazed at his feet.
The ladies returned the grateful nod from the shape behind him and bade the couple farewell.
